MEET ERIK DILAN
Erik Dilan was first elected to the New York State Assembly in 2014 to represent the 54th district, which includes Bushwick, Bedford-Syvesant, Cypress Hills, and East New York.
Prior to his election to the Assembly, Erik spent 12 years as a member of the New York City Council, where he acted as Chair of the Housing & Buildings Committee. As chair of the committee he fought to protect tenants and homeowners, a mission he has continued in the Assembly as a member of the Housing Committee.
As a champion for affordable housing in the face of gentrification, he’s introduced legislation to put an end to speculative buying that has forced Brooklynites and those across the city out of their homes.
Erik was born and raised in the neighborhood he now represents, and has been a fighter for his community since he was first elected to School Board 32. His experience has allowed him to be an effective advocate for his community.
He currently resides in Cypress Hills with his wife and three children.
